'10 Gales Prize' Ceremony Awards- Sunday 3rd April 2011.


You are cordially invited to Ceremony Award of the '10 Gales Prize' this Sunday 3rd April from 19:00 to 22:00, where the winner of the solo show at 10 Gales Gallery and the 'Public's Choice Award' will be announced.

’10 Gales Prize 2011’ is an art competition dedicated to recent graduates and art students in their final year of their Ba and Ma.

After a very long deliberation of the jury, due to the high standards of the work exhibited, this is the list of the candidates that have been shortlisted to the final:

‘10 Gales Prize 2011’- From 8th  to 27th March 2011

10 Gales Gallery with the aim of supporting and promoting art students and emerging artists, is delighted to announce the opening of ’10 Gales Prize 2011’, an art competition dedicated to recent graduates and students in their final year of their Ba and Ma.

Over the course of  three consecutive weeks, from 8th to 27th March 2011, our white gallery space will be articulated with three group shows featuring the newest talents from the best art universities in the UK.

Having received over 200 hundred submissions and after a very long consideration, 40 emerging artists from very different backgrounds and practices, will be competing in this edition of the ’10 Gales Prize’, for the final award of a solo show at 10 Gales Gallery.

During the Private Views of each group show the public will have the chance to vote for their favourite artworks. Taking into account the public’s choice, the selection panel will decide by consensus which artists deserve to be submitted to the final.

The ’10 Gales Prize Award Ceremony’ will be held on Sunday 3rd April 2011, from 19:00 to 22:00 Hrs, in which the finalists and the winner of the ’10 Gales Prize’ will be announced.

Submissions open: '10 Gales Prize 2011'


10 Gales Gallery with the aim of supporting and promoting art students and emerging artists, is delighted to announce the open call for submissions for the ‘Ten Gales Prize’, consisting in the award of a solo show at 10 Gales Gallery.

From painting and drawing, to printing or sculpture, film, video-art or installation, live art or mixed media…  Figurative or abstract!

We are looking forwards to articulating our white gallery space with new talents, new colours, fresh voices, cutting the edge approaches, new messages and new concepts. We are looking forwards to hearing from you.

Submissions are free.
Submissions deadline: 30/01/11.
Selected artists will be contacted by 15/02/2011.
Exhibition and ceremony awards dates will be published by 01/03/2010.

*ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

*The artists must have been graduated from a Ba or Ma between 2007 and 2010, or being currently attending the final year of their degree or Masters degree.

*The entrants must live or study in the UK.

 *A maximum of 3 artworks can be submitted per artist.

 *The organisers do not take any responsibility for the artworks. Artists are encouraged to consider insurance.

 *If selected for the exhibition, the artist agrees to the reproduction of their work in association with the exhibition.

*SUBMISSION  PROCESS:

About yourself:

*Your C.V and personal statement.

*Scanned copy of your student card, probing you have been graduated from a Ba or Ma between 2007 and 2010, or being currently attending the final year of their degree or Masters degree.

About your artworks:

*You can submit up to three artworks.
*Working title.
*Medium.
*Dimensions.
*Images in jpg.
*Links to visualise/listen to your work.

*Please note that although the submissions are free, and due to the independent nature of the Prize, all the selected artists will be kindly asked to donate £50.

*SELECTION  PROCESS:

*Depending on the quality and quantity of the submissions, we will curate a different number of group shows.

*During the Private Views of the group shows, each member of the judging panel will select one artwork to be nominated for the final, whereas, the public will have the chance to vote their favourite artworks.

*Over the course of the exhibition  week, the judging panel will gather putting forward their favourite nominees. Taking into account the public’s choice, they will decide by consensus which artists deserve to be submitted to the final. For this, we will take into consideration the quality and originality of the artwork presented, as well as the trajectory of the artists and their body of work.

*The finalists of each round will be invited to attend an interview, that will help us to make the right choice for the ’10 Gales Prize’.

*At the end of this process, we will celebrate the ’10 Gales Prize 2010 Ceremony’ announcing the winner, and other special mentions and surprises.

*All the selected artists will be promoted on our website.
